It’s been a really good week even with some of the hiccups we've had. I want to share something that jumped out at me this week.
On Monday, I walked into the bathroom to change. When I walked in, I heard something hit the trashcan. As soon as I started shutting the door I looked down to where the noise had come from and saw a SNAKE. It didn’t take me long to get out of there, but the snake followed. He slithered under my bed, and I ran out the door. Everyone always tells me that snakes are more scared of humans than we are of them, but I don't think they understand my fear.
I had left my phone on my bed, and no one was answering when I called, so I had to run to find someone to save me. Robbie was in the office on the other side of the pond, so it took him a while to get to the crime scene. By the time he got to our house the snake was gone. He looked everywhere for it but didn't see any sign of it. We knew it was still in the house, but for the next two days couldn't find it anywhere.
Yesterday morning though, I woke up to Obi (my dog) barking at around 5:30. I knew it was the snake before I even looked and turned on my flashlight just in time to see it slip under a plastic container beside my bed.
I quickly sent Robbie a text while I tried to situate myself safely on my bed, where I could still see the snake if it reemerged. Robbie came and thankfully disposed of the snake while I woke the kids up for school. Forever grateful for people who aren’t scared of snakes that can do the dirty work.
Sometimes the days start slow and unexciting. Other times you live and sleep with a snake for 48+ hours.
Things are about to change again. Lil is leaving in less in a month. I’ve been trying to mentally prepare myself for losing my roommate, but I’ve also been failing at doing just that. Sometimes it just randomly hits and we both get a little emotional. I’ve never been good at goodbyes, and I know that this one will be especially hard.
On a happier note, we did our weekly prayer meeting yesterday. We went into the girl's lounge and prayed through all the kids' names and specific struggles that we see them having. We thanked God for the evidence of Him working in each and every one of their lives, and it was just so refreshing. Prayer is powerful, and tapping into that power is extraordinary.
